“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deut. 6:4-7).
The most important lesson that we can teach our children is that our God is a big God who is to be valued above all else. Through a variety of age-appropriate learning activities, including drama, songs, stories, pictures, and games, we teach the following fundamental truths to our children:
- The sovereignty of God is the foundation of our understanding of the eternal God.
- The Creator of the universe (Gen. 1:1) who wonderfully crafted us (Psa. 139:14) has revealed Himself fully and finally through the person and work of His Son.
- Through the unmerited favor of God we are transformed for His glory (Eph. 2:8-10)
In addition to teaching and communicating these precious truths, the Sylvania preschool & nursery is also highly committed to the safety of your child. Our Child Care Coordinator, Ruth Burgess, has been committed to the preschool and nursery at Sylvania for over 20 years, and has assembled an exemplary child care staff. In addition to great staff, Ruth has implemented policies and procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of your children.
And our aim is not to provide adequate child care, but excellent child care, not only because we view our preschool and nursery as a ministry to your child, but we also view it as a ministry to you, the parent. We are wholly committed to providing such excellent child care that you, the parent, are free to worship our great God without the distraction of wondering what your child is doing or if he or she is being cared for properly.
To help provide this peace of mind, we not only allow, but invite you to tour our preschool and nursery facility and meet our staff. Please note that child care is available for ages birth through age 4 for all regular Sylvania services and programs as well as most special events held at the church. Reservations are not needed for regular Sylvania programs.
