The following obituary and funeral arrangements are for long-time Sylvania member, Ed Calvin.  Please be praying for his family and thinking of ways to bless them during this time.

Graveside services for Edward L. Calvin, 84, of Flint, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Dr. Randy Randall officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Calvin passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, in Flint.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1925, in Columbia, Mo., to the late Edward B. and Estella Williams Calvin. He served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant from 1943 to 1946. He was a chemical engineer for Southerland Associates in Charlotte, N.C. He was a member of Sylvania Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean C. Calvin on Jan. 30, 2010.

He is survived by his sister, Margaretha Rowson of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; his son, Dennis Calvin of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Terry Calvin of Flint; and grandson, Christopher Van Nostrand of Flint.

Mr. Calvin was a very strong Christian and showed this in his everyday dealings with coworkers, friends, family and everyone he met. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
