Rick and his wife, Jenn, along with their four kids, have been part of Sylvania Church since the beginning of 2024. Before joining Sylvania as Senior Pastor, Rick served as Associate Pastor of a local church in Washington State for over 13 years. Rick and Jenn have been married since 2005, having met while studying at Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon. Rick went on to earn graduate degrees in counseling (George Fox University) and biblical studies (The Master’s University). Rick and Jenn have three daughters and a son who delight them and keep them on their toes.
As Senior Pastor, Rick’s primary roles include preaching and teaching the Bible, planning and leading the liturgical aspects of corporate worship, shepherding the saints along with his fellow elders, leading and serving with the staff to nurture the ministries of the church, and equipping the saints to fulfill the various ministries for which God has gifted them. He is also a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). Rick’s desire for the people of Sylvania Church is that they would glorify God in close communion with Him as they walk in dependent faithfulness to the Great Commission in every area of life: “[Christ] we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” (Col 1:28).
